Getting Back on Track (Kind of)

Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, and are kicking off this week in the best ways possible 🙂 

I had a great weekend! I didn’t do much, but I feel good about what I did. I’m still not feeling 100%, and have a lingering cough with a little bit of snot here and there, but the rest of me feels back to being human. 

Saturday I had brunch and a craft day with my sister, Chelsea. It was MUCH needed and long overdue. We went to a place called Kitchen House Coffee, which had a great mimosa and yummy brunch! Parking was a little rough (street parking), but they weren’t very busy which was nice for 11a on a Saturday! I recommend, and do hope to go back soon to try out more of their menu. Some of it is seasonal, but some things are always there. Then we sat on her couch and cross stitched for a while. A few years ago I started work on a massive project! Its a 26 page pattern on an ancient world map! Its beautiful, and I can’t wait for it to be finished, but I keep losing motivation to work on it so its taking a long time. I need to just power through and get it finished and framed!

We also made a trip to Joann’s. This is a store that can suck you in, and once it spits you out you’re out with bags and bags of things you didn’t even know you needed! But, its a beautiful place. I’ve decided my big craft project (aside from the map) for 2020 is to make a quilt! I already have an idea for one I’d like to make, but its going to take a lot of learning and practice to get to it. I have a feeling its going to be a lot more complicated than I anticipate. I got a couple books, mom gifted me a sewing machine she’s had for years and never took out of the box, and I’m ready to get to learning! When I was little my Grandma took me to some sewing classes at a fabric store so I don’t think it’ll be “too” hard to jump back in to it. Once I do some reading I’ll gather materials and get to practicing! I’M SO EXCITED!

Sunday was even more chill. Lunch with mom at Olive Garden followed by a trip to Aldi for a few things. Mostly fruit 🙂 I hadn’t seen mom since Florida, and hadn’t had time alone with her since we were still in Disney World. I’m already ready to be back at Disney. Who’s with me?!

Today is Monday, which means tonight starts my weekly Monday commitment to have a work night! Every Monday evening, after my 8-5, I’m going to post up somewhere and get stuff done! I have big goals this year, and it will be nice to have one evening set aside just for checking things off my list. Of course I’ll be hustling more than once a week, but I’ll always know I have one dedicated night just to RWP back end stuff. It’ll be great! I’m also making Sundays my adventure days again. I need a day set aside for being outside and exploring. In 2018 I hike just about every Sunday, and it felt soooo good to know that every Sunday I would be out there in the wild. I’m doing that again! Whether it be hiking or cycling or climbing or whatever else I want to get into – I’m going to do it! These are my two things for me, and for filling my soul and moving RWP forward. 

One of the things I’m going to work on tonight is to start putting an email list together! In the next couple months I aim to have a weekly email go out with some fun things – please send me some kind of message with your email to get added! Don’t worry, I won’t fill your inbox, and I won’t send annoying things – promise! I also might make some changes to the look of the website to prep for other things I want to include. Yay! 

Being sick the last couple weeks has been really frustrating. I’m listening to my body, and getting lots of rest, but ALL I WANT is to be doing what I want to be doing. I’m ready to be working out every morning again, going on adventures, and on the go all the time! My mind is back on track – now its just getting my body (especially my lungs and heart) to the same place. I’m almost there, but I don’t want to push myself and end up in a worse position than I am now. So, rest it is….. But, I can still work out my brain! That realization is what has reignited my motivation to get going with RWP stuff, as well as budgeting for the apartment. So many great things ahead! 

I’m rambling. Once again, thank you for reading as I ramble on about my life in a completely selfish way. This weekly journal-style blog posting has been good for me, and I do plan on continuing to post like this amongst the other content I will be posting soon. This is my way of journaling – of getting my thoughts out of my head, and into the world. It means a lot if you’ve read this far, and I hope my ramblings help you as well in some way. I strive to be open, honest, and transparent with you, share the positive and struggles, and use this platform as a place to share my journey and growth through life.
