Good morning! Its not a Monday, but a Wednesday, and here I am! For the first time ever in the history of this blog I have learned that my posts have been for more than just myself! My words aren’t just being launched into the void that is the Internet to float around somewhere outside of my brain, and are actually impacting others. Say what?! That’s an incredible feeling!
For those of you who have been waiting for more – I am sorry. As things have re-opened a bit here in STL my life has sped up significantly, and I haven’t had much time to get out and hike and get away from the city let alone sit down and make the updates and changes here that I want. BUT! That will be changing this weekend. I have a list, and lots of time this weekend to make it all happen 🙂
Part of why its been a couple weeks since my last post is because I’ve been thinking a lot on my career. I haven’t shared with many people, but I have begun to think about making a change. I haven’t been actively looking for something new, am generally happy with where I am now, but the reality is is that I’m not making enough money to live. Before Covid I was barely making it from paycheck to paycheck, and with Covid its gotten worse. I love my work family, and don’t like the idea of leaving, but the world is changing and we all need to adjust. So I need to at least find secondary employment. In an IDEAL world I would be able to fully finance my life with RWP – creating content for myself, partnered brands and organizations, creating products, and offering life/coaching and adventure experiences in (at least) the greater STL area. But this takes time, lots of work, and lots of connecting. I have been slowly building this up, but if this is something I’m going to work towards I need to hold myself accountable, and remain consistent with my posting. And that’s the bare minimum! But I’m ready.
My degrees are in photography and media communications, so it makes sense to have a career in marketing/advertising/social media/connecting with people/all the things that combine my love for documenting and sharing through visuals and written word. Building myself up as a brand and business makes sense, but I also wouldn’t mind working for a company doing something like this if its a company that has the same values and passions I do! It would have to be in St. Louis unless I’m able to work remotely.
Anyway! That’s a lot of what’s swirling around in my brain lately. I hope its not a boring read!
On another note – I FINALLY got the seat of my bike raised all on my own! Its actually not that difficult, but for I kept putting it off because I thought it would be more complicated and I didn’t want to deal with it. I’M SO GLAD I DID! It has changed so many things that makes rides so much more powerful, faster, and less recovery time! By this simple adjustment here are a few things I’ve noticed:
- My legs extending farther makes each stride more powerful
- Also fewer strides = less effort
- Sitting back more on the seat which takes some pressure off my arms
- Which helps from collapsing on my wrists and locking my elbows
- an all-around feeling of natural and awesome and a great workout without feeling so much of the effort.
Soooooo yeah! That’s where I’m at right now. Thank you for sticking around, and I’m really excited about some of the things I have coming up! 🙂 Cheers!
Update for the update:
This is my 50th post on this blog! Yay! Another cheers to 50 more!
