Hey there! I’m currently working on my post calendar (yes, its official!), and I’m noticing a lot of posts around health and wellness and fitness, and I feel that if that’s where this space is going that I should be honest about where I’m at with my nutrition and fitness. I want to share my starting point, and share my journey as life goes on.
Right now I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been. I don’t want to say that I think I’m “fat” or even “overweight” really, but the last few months of adjusting to life changes has taken a toll on my body.
Let’s take it back to November 1, 2021. This is when two things happened:
- I started working from home
- Denny moved in
Both AMAZING things, but big changes!
I started a whole new job and career path during a pandemic, and went from being on my feet most of the day, moving boxes of paper, and running in and out taking orders to customers to being home at a desk on zoom calls most of the day. I went from pretty active to pretty stagnant. Pair that with being an emotional eater and I was stress eating like crazy! It was also the holidays, winter, etc. I can give a whole list of things that contributed, but really I was just getting through.
Denny moving in has been one of the most amazing things in my life. He’s my person, and this was definitely a great decision. One thing that has been tough is that this apartment is the perfect size for me, and while it has been working for us, it is quite the squeeze. Its basically bursting at the seams! Exciting news though! One month from today (so August 13th) we’re moving! We’ll be doubling our space, have an actual bedroom, and I will have an actual work space instead of a small corner of the living room! Not only that, but we’ll be literal neighbors with some good friends 🙂
So, 8 months later, I want to make some big changes in my body and relationship with food. I can no longer keep up Denny’s diet, because he can basically eat anything and not gain a pound, where I’ve been steadily gaining. Granted, a small part of this gain has been muscle, but I haven’t been working out consistently enough to really make that impact.
I completed an 8 week program with 1st Phorm, which I have mentioned in a previous post, but afterwards I had about a month of excuses and high anxiety, and haven’t made any progress. My weight is the same, but I feel so icky. I’m fed up, and ready to really conquer this change! Through 1st Phorm’s app I have an advisor who has REALLY been helping, and who I’m learning to really lean into during all of this.
Below are my current weight and measurements (as of 7/11), and we’ll go from there.
Weight: 164 (not much above average for my 5’7” height, but I’d rather it be more muscle than fluff)
I submit these measurements every Monday to my advisor, and then I don’t think about them until the next Monday. I understand that they are good and important ways to measure progress, but I like that I take note at the beginning of the week, and the rest of the week I focus on my macros, steps, and how I’m FEELING.
I am by no means an expert at nutrition, and am in no place to give advice. Based on my current weight and measurements along with my activity level and goals, my macros were calculated. Through the app I track my food and water intake, and aim for hitting my goals in calories, protein, carbs, and fats. To keep from getting overwhelmed, I focus more on calories and protein, and the others usually fall into place as well.
Here are my current macro goals for each day:
Calories – 1,640
Protein – 150g
Carbs – 135g
Other things I track each day:
- 100-120oz of water
- 7,000 steps (goal is 10k+ per day, but starting with 7k while I build the habit)
It may seem like a lot, but once I got into the routine of utilizing the app its been easy peasy.
So there it is. This is where I’m at right now! I have been pretty hard on myself, but also know that my body still does so much for me each day, and I want to give back to it. This is a process and will take time, but I’m excited to get going! This past Monday (7/11), 1st Phorm started their summer challenge so I’m following a workout program, tracking my macros, and walking each day! I might have to get to the treadmill at the gym for a while since its SO HOT outside, but hitting my step goal helps to feel more accomplished in my day, and, when done consistently, makes that impact I’m looking for. (I found a portable treadmill on Amazon, and might go for the standing desk/treadmill setup when we move so I can walk more through the day while I’m on zoom LOL)
This isn’t a very deep post. It wasn’t planned, but in my planning I want to be honest about my current state and what this journey will really look like. If you’d like me to post more like this, and maybe even some on YouTube or TikTok, please let me know!
